Among the medals won, there is 1 Gold, 1 Silver, and 6 Bronze. This achievement surpasses previous years, marking the first time in many years that the Vietnamese team has secured a Gold medal.

Specifically, Thân Thế Công, a 12th-grade student from Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, won the Gold medal. Hà Duyên Phúc, a 12th-grade student from Lam Son High School for the Gifted in Thanh Hóa, won the Silver medal.

Bronze medals were awarded to the following students: Nguyễn Nhật Minh, 12th grade, High School for the Gifted, University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Nguyễn Thành Duy, 12th grade, Trần Phú High School for the Gifted, Hải Phòng; Trương Phi Hùng, 12th grade, Bac Giang High School for the Gifted; Hoàng Tuấn Kiệt, 12th grade, Lam Son High School for the Gifted, Thanh Hóa; Nguyễn Thế Quân, 11th grade, Phan Bội Châu High School for the Gifted, Nghệ An; Trần Vũ Lê Hoàng, 12th grade, Lam Son High School for the Gifted, Thanh Hóa.

The 24th Asian Physics Olympiad was held from June 3-10, 2024, with the participation of 28 teams from 27 countries and territories, totaling 208 contestants. This is the first APhO hosted by Malaysia, featuring the highest number of participating teams ever.

Contestants underwent two days of exams, each lasting 5 hours. This year's theoretical exam was built around practical and modern applications of Physics, such as fountains, fiber optics, and astrophysical research published in the renowned journal Nature. The experimental exam was based on an interesting gyroscope experiment, a mechanical effect widely used in real-life applications like precise navigation in aviation, maritime, and self-balancing devices.

The outstanding achievements of the Vietnamese national team at APhO 2024 continue to affirm the quality of general education and the correct direction in discovering, selecting, and training gifted students in both theory and practice.

This success also continues the series of achievements the Vietnamese team has garnered at APhO in recent years, with all eight students winning awards (in 2022, there were 1 Silver, 2 Bronze, and 5 Certificates of Merit; in 2023, there were 4 Bronze and 4 Certificates of Merit).
